His faithful followers, the SS henchmen, were feverishly aroused on the days of the executions… Bets were made for rounds of beer about how long the delinquent would hold out. He should never die too soon. If that threatened to happen, he was tied down, and after a short respite, the process was continued…ad maiorem diaboli gloriam!
